The Pastorate's work with The Regeration Trust
The Regeneration Trust is a charity that aims to reached the poor and excluded within London. Aside from having many projects across London it has a large number of projects within the World's End Estate. With the proximity of the estate to our pastorate venue this is a charity and a location that the pastorate is becoming more and more involved with.
A pastorate meets on the World's End estate. This pastorate is a plant from what was the Wood-Roe pastorate. They will be working with the Regeneration Trust and the Social Transformation team at HTB on the projects that are outlined below.
They will also be creating links within the estate and helping to establish and build on the work of the Regeneration Trust in running Alpha courses, debt counselling and other courses in and around the estate as well as having a lot of fun and making new friends!
Projects that members of the pastorate and the planted pastorate are/will be involved in are outlined below:
A lively event held at weekends.
It is a chance for children to have fun, relax and make friends with games, quizzes and music. Some of the children have behavioural difficulties, so dedicated time is given to them. The aim of our children’s work is to provide a supportive environment which helps educationally whilst building self-esteem and confidence, enabling children to withstand unhelpful peer pressure and relate appropriately to adults.
Further support is given to the families of the children through weekly home visits.
These are run to give the children on the estate a chance to learn new skills within IT. Once again the environment helps the children educationally as well as building self-esteem and confidence, so that the children can withstand unhelpful peer pressure and be able to relate appropriately to adults.
Some members of the pastorate acts as mentors to some of the children on the estate. By acting as a friend it helps the children to become self aware and helps them to build up their confidence and gives them someone to turn to when times are hard.
